Children's Picture Books - Spacesnake

Spacesnake is a monstrous space-roaming machine that terrorizes people called "Asterians" who live in an asteroid belt, but the Spacesnake is not what it seems.

This story pokes fun at our reliance on technology for entertainment and communication. It satirizes our use of machines to make us look bigger and feel more important. All this modernity may actually be pulling the Asterians away from each other, making them fearful and cowardly in the face of real or percieved dangers. It could be making them less human.

Strangely this book is a favourite of the very young, despite being written for older children. Essentially a boy book, girls have been just as fascinated by the snake and the friend he makes at the end of the story. Requests for sequels have been made. Sadly Spacesnake is a one shot deal. I wrote and illustrated the text when I was 19 and 20 years old, which accounts for its rough look and crazy ideas.
