Duncan Weller - Stage 500

These works are my attempts to create a related series. Although it is possible to be a fully functioning artist without ever showing work in a gallery, galleries are the best place to see original art and they help to galvanize ideas, as do books. I try to have at least one show a year. With each show I add to the series, building up to one show solely devoted to adult works with a related theme. After a number of sketches, notes, and disasters I'm getting closer to themes and imagery that most excite me.

The Noble Death of a Poet
This is an etching and a sketch for a larger painting I hope to get to one day soon. It will be the central image in the Stage 500 series.
I did studies for this subject fifteen years ago and I hope it will be a signature work of mine when completed.

Omni Landscape

Spiral Formation
In Victoria this painting was used on the set of a stage play called "I Hate Hamlet!"
I was a little worried when the actors got close to the painting during the sword fights.

Tettrennial Drift

Open Day - Yellow Path
This large oil painting sold in a show at a popular gelato shop in North Vancouver. It was an early idea that helped spawn
the concept of Stage 500.
